The draw is run by the Norwegian operator Norsk Tipping in Hamar. Results are published in Finland on Wednesdays at 9 pm (21:00) Finnish time. Veikkaus sales for the draw close in Finland at 7 pm (19:00).

How Viking Lotto and Plus work

For each row you choose six main numbers from 1–48 and one Viking number from 1–5. In Finland a row costs €1.00. Only in Finland can you add the Plus option for €0.50, which makes the row €1.50. The Plus number is chosen from 1–30. If it is correct, the prize in tiers 2–8 is multiplied by five, up to €1 million. Plus has no effect on the jackpot, the 6+V prize. The Plus number alone wins €5. Viking Lotto is played in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia and Belgium. The UK does not take part.

  • Price of a row in Finland: €1.00, Plus €0.50 extra
  • Draw: Wednesdays
  • Draw venue: Hamar, Norway (Norsk Tipping)
  • Taking part: 10 countries, Finland included

Prize tiers and odds

In Finland there are 8 prize tiers plus a Plus tier. Tiers 1 and 2 are shared by all 10 countries. Tiers 3–8 are national: each country has its own, so Finnish amounts can differ from those in other countries. The order follows the main numbers, and the Viking number lifts a combination by one tier: 5+V is tier 3 and a plain 5 is tier 4. The jackpot odds are 1 in 61,357,560, and the odds of 6 without the Viking number are 1 in 15,339,390.

How the jackpot grows

The jackpot is at least €3 million and at most €25 million. Tier 2 is also capped at €25 million. A rule that took effect in Finland on 1 October 2026 changed where the money above the cap goes. Until 30 September 2026 the overflow went to tier 2 of the same draw, as it still does in Eurojackpot. Now it goes to the multinational prize fund, and the fund returns the surplus to tier 1 in a draw where the jackpot is below the cap. If nobody wins tier 2, that prize also goes to the fund. If tier 2 goes over its own cap, the extra moves to the jackpot of the next draw. So at the cap tier 2 no longer grows: the money is saved for later jackpots.

Questions about Viking Lotto

When are Viking Lotto results published?

The draw is on Wednesdays, and results are published in Finland at 9 pm (21:00) Finnish time. We fetch the numbers from the official Veikkaus API after publication. Earlier draws are in the Viking Lotto archive.

What are the Viking number and Plus?

The Viking number is the seventh number in a row, chosen from its own group of 1–5. Plus is an add-on played only in Finland: the Plus number from 1–30 costs €0.50 extra. When it is correct, prizes in tiers 2–8 are multiplied by five, up to €1 million. Plus does not affect the jackpot. The Plus number alone wins €5.

Why does each country have its own tiers 3–8?

Under the Viking Lotto rules, only the top two tiers are shared by all 10 countries. Tiers 3–8 are national, so the amounts in the Finnish table can differ from those in Norway or Sweden, for example. The Plus tier exists only in Finland. In Eurojackpot, by contrast, all 12 tiers are shared: compare the Eurojackpot prize tiers.

How do I claim a Viking Lotto prize?

Veikkaus pays the prize, not Garmond. A prize on a row played online is paid to your bank account or player account; otherwise you claim it with your receipt. From €1,000, your identity is checked if no account details are saved. A prize of €20,000 or more is paid no earlier than 3 weeks after the result is confirmed, and every prize must be claimed within 1 year. A lottery prize from Finland or the EEA is tax-free for the winner. Sources: Veikkaus rules (PDF, in Finnish) and the Finnish Tax Administration.
